5TH EDITION

STIGMA

2023

We have chosen Stigma to be our focus in 2023 because it is cross cutting with several physical and mental illnesses, in addition to being the reason behind physical and psychological illnesses. Medfest EG believes that films and arts are highly useful in society since they enable viewers to get an understanding of people's lives and how stigma can have a significant impact on people's wellness.

4TH EDITION

MOMENTS

2022

About these "Moments" that shape our lives. Join us as we embark on a journey of these moments through a hand-picked selection of short films, that is bound to leave you in awe. Our lives are a compilation of Moments that are carved into our memories. Moments of childhood innocence, moments of discovery, of strength, of weakness and resilience, of sickness and health, moments of connection, moments that transform us into the people we are.

3RD EDITION

TINY MARKS

2019

Across different generations that we have witnessed and belong to, child care has gone through many developments in terms of the modern age approach to child psychiatry, upbringing and disease management. We screened films that discuss children’s mental and physical health and the effects of family dynamics and upbringing on the children. We initiated an informed discussion, through film, about the little ones whose world is larger than we can ever imagine. Our goal was to extend our outreach to parents, educators and child facilitators.

2ND EDITION

ABOUT HER

2018

The female holds a special position in medicine and has always been an inspiration for art. They harbor life within their bodies and their journeys. Health issues and societal problems affect us all. We wanted to showcase films that offer an honest portrayal of what it means to be a female facing healthcare related issues in the modern world. We also initiated a parallel program to give a wider chance for interaction and reflection on the topics tackled in the selected films. There were 4 workshops conducted by Psychiatrists, Psychologists and Artists.

1ST EDITION

UNDER THE SKIN

2017

The first Medfest EG edition came to light in January and April of 2017, tackling mental health issues. TheseIssues have always been a part of the collective consciousness of communities. Whether spoken about out loud or shunned from public discussions, mental health has been and will always be a concern for us all. Despite the occurrence of global changes towards dealing with mental health, stigmas still exist and correctly dealing with them requires communication and open discussions.
