MedFest Egypt proudly honors individuals whose contributions to film and health have shaped our conversations and inspired audiences. Meet the distinguished honorees of the 8th edition, recognized for their achievements both on and off the screen.
Mohamed Mamdouh
Actor
One of the most distinctive screen presences of his generation in Egyptian cinema. Mamdouh began on stage before moving into film and television at the turn of the millennium, he came to wide prominence with Bebo we Beshir, The Party, The Blue Elephant, followed by leading work in Abu Saddam MedFest honours him for a body of work built on the craft of inhabiting a character fully, moving between supporting and leading roles with the same weight, & lending emotional depth to figures the script leaves half-written.
Mohamed Said
Cinema Manager at Zawya Cinema
Mohamed brings over a decade of experience in theatrical operations and film exhibition. Mohamed champions Zawya’s unique, non-commercial approach to cinema management, ensuring that the venue remains a dedicated hub for independent and alternative cinema in Egypt. He oversees daily operations, technical film preparation and testing, filmmaker and projectionist coordination, festival logistics, and all service-related aspects of the theater to maintain and keep Zawya a welcoming environment for patrons.
Dr. Ahmed Abou El Wafa
CONSULTANT PSYCHIATRIST
A consultant psychiatrist and child and adolescent specialist whose clinical and training work has helped shape a generation of Egyptian practitioners, with a particular commitment to public mental-health literacy and to supervision and mentorship in cognitive behavioural therapy. MedFest honours him for the years he has given to the festival's founding proposition - that cinema and clinical care belong in the same room, and that a film watched together can open a conversation a consultation cannot.
